Is ice cream a food group and other random thoughts

Ah! The sun is shining and the air is warm and I am one happy girl. This kind of weather makes me want to sit in the sunshine with a big ice cream cone and just enjoy…and yes, slack a little too.

Ice cream, how I love you so. Below are a few of my favorite places to grab a scoop, if you are in the area you should check them out:

Washington County, New York

The Ice Cream Man (Rt. 29 in Greenwich) http://www.the-ice-cream-man.com/ (Vanilla Brick Road is a must try!)

Battenkill Creamery (County Rt. 30 in Salem)  http://www.battenkillcreamery.com/(Not only ice cream but freshly bottled milk in glass bottles.)

Fairfield County, Connecticut

Dr. Mike’s Ice Cream Shop (Rt. 29 in Monroe) http://www.facebook.com/pages/B-Sweet-Dr-Mikes-Ice-Cream/187833480569 (I was always a big fan of the Swiss Lace, vanilla ice cream with a crunchy chocolate ribbon, YUM!)

The Ice Cream Shoppe (Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton) http://www.icecreamshoppeshelton.com/ (If for no other reason than that’s where I used to go as a kid and still love to return to)

On a completely different note…

I was flipping through twitter this afternoon and started scrolling through Suvir Saran’s tweets. Suvir is an acquaintance I met a few years back through the Agricultural Stewardship Association in Washington County. He is also an amazing chef that is currently featured on Top Chef’s Masters airing right now. (See his bio here:  http://www.bravotv.com/top-chef-masters/season-3/bio/suvir-saran) Anyway, Suvir is going to be on Jimmy Fallon tonight so you should watch!
